Daytime Emmys Tonight

Several cast members from Guiding Light
at the Daytime Emmy Creative Craft Awards:
Bonnie Dennison (Daisy), Caitlin VanZandt (Ashlee),
Murray Bartlett (Cyrus) and Jessica Leccia (Natalia)

Tonight the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are on ABC, from 8-10pm, after the Red Carpet Pre-Show from 6-8pm on SoapNet.

Some of my favorites I hope get the Emmy:
Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, Guiding Light) for Supporting Actor.
Gina Tognoni (Dinah, Guiding Light) for Supporting Actress.
Jennifer Landon (ex-Gwen & Cleo, As The World Turns) for Younger Actress (hey she not only played a cheesy singer but that cheesy singer's psycho stalker).
Outstanding Drama Series: Guiding Light

And the one I'm really rooting for:
Van Hansis (Luke, As The World Turns) for Younger Actor.

ATWT: Where does Luke fit in?

as the world turns, luke, noah, oakdale

I've made no secret I am not a fan of the character of Ameera on As The World Turns. From the moment she showed up in Oakdale, I said, "I really hope they're not going to play the Noah-marries-her-for-citizenship card." Alas, it appears they are. Yes, Noah has told Luke he's going to marry Impeccable English Ameera, and she said yes.
Despite the fact that for a citizenship-marriage to work it has to be "real" as in consummated. And must last for at least two years ~ which is practically forever on a soap. And the fact that the US citizens caught in a fraudulent marriage scheme - which is going to be practically the entire Snyder clan - can face felony charges and jail time.
But I guess this affects my feelings more because I wanted Luke & Noah to have some "together" time before a stupid-plot-trick was thrown at them. I mean, they cannot even kiss onscreen, much less be physically intimate like every other couple in Oakdale. And now they will have Impeccable English Ameera tagging along every step of the way? I feel for Luke - I feel that Noah is pushing his feelings, their relationship, aside for this person they barely know.
The first time Noah gives an onscreen passionate kiss to IEA, I may just tune out of ATWT forever...

No Smooches For Nuke

The Boston Globe published an article backing up what fans of As The World Turns' gay love story have been guessing: it's not CBS, but P&G who have been pulling the lips apart from America's sweethearts, Luke & Noah (fans call the couple "Nuke").
It's been over 160 days since Luke & Noah's last on-screen kiss. The show made history with their first-in-daytime gay liplock, and has been back-pedaling ever since. There are even YouTube videos counting how many "near-misses" of the lips there has been.
And now the Globe reveals that CBS supports the couple, and the full portrayal of young lovers. It's ATWT's parent company, Proctor & Gamble, who are cowering in fear from the conservative watchdog group, "American Family."
There is no kissing ban, says a spokesperson for P&G in The Dallas Morning News (Dallas News dot com), in another article about Luke & Noah's lack of intimacy. Really? Then why are there actually counters on sites such as Luke & Noah Fans, counting the days and hours since our heroes last kissed?
Personally, I think the show is doing a disservice to its fans and its characters by portraying this couple differently than they would a straight couple. Let's face it, if it was "Luke and Nola" then they'd be kissing every other episode. But even Grandma Snyder must be saying "Just kiss the guy!" by now. I know I am.

Bashing

If we had to have a gay-bashing (yes, the word "Faggot" was used, along with a tire-iron) on As The World Turns, at least Luke really fought back.
I'm not keen on the whole Ameera story-line, but I'm glad the drunken bashers didn't kidnap and rape her. That woulda been one hell of a "Welcome To America" ~ this experience was bad enough:
